A+ is a program sponsored by CompTIA that increases the knowledge and technical competency of entry-level computer service technicians. A+ is a non-vendor, non-product specific certification program. It provides industry-recognized valuable knowledge that may open doors with prospective employers or leads to job advancement opportunities. The program is supported by major computer hardware and software vendors, distributors, resellers, and publications.
A+ Certification covers two main areas of competency: Core Hardware and Operating System (OS) Technologies. The A+ course offered at New Horizons is a 10-day class that prepares students to take the two A+ exams: Core Hardware and OS Technologies.
A+ Certification is an ideal program for anyone who wishes to gain a basic understanding of computer network technology. The course is suited for novice computer users looking to upgrade their skills in order to successfully perform as an entry-level computer service technician.
New Horizons Computer Learning Centers and CompTIA do not strictly define the prerequisites for A+. As a result, no preexisting knowledge or skill set involving computer technology is required; however Computers Made Easy and Dos Levels 1-3 are suggested.
A+ Certification training will help you troubleshoot, install programs, use DOS, Windows 3.11, Windows 9x, Windows 2000, and their applications, as well as master skills in formal problem solving. You will also gain the benefit of hardware knowledge such as CPUs, memory, storage media, modems; network interface cards (NICs) and peripherals.

Students should have a solid background in PC technology before taking Network+. Network+ Certification is designed for students who have a basic understanding of technology concepts, especially in computer networking infrastructure. It is suggested that students have their

Security+ is a vendor neutral offering is designed for network support professionals with 2 or more years of experience looking to gain mastery of industry wide security topics.
 The Security+ offering is the primary training you will take while preparing for the CompTIA® Security+™ certification. The Security+ offering is the entry level for IT professionals looking to specialize in vendor neutral or vendor specific advanced security.

Security + Certification training
The Desktop Support Technician Program will get you started in your IT career by preparing you with the skills to successfully troubleshoot desktop environments running on the Microsoft Windows® operating system. Students will learn to build, maintain, and upgrade computer networks. The program includes extensive hands-on training in the areas of PC hardware, PC operating systems, PC troubleshooting, Network hardware, Network operating systems, and Network troubleshooting. The goal of this program is to increase the knowledge and technical competency of entry-level computer service technicians to demonstrate a wide range of skills required in today’s networked environments.
No pre-existing knowledge or skill set involving computer technology is required.

The Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA) on Microsoft Windows XP certification is designed for professionals who implement, manage, and troubleshoot existing Windows XP-based systems, including Windows .NET Server. Implementation responsibilities include installing and configuring parts of the systems. Management responsibilities include administering and supporting the systems.
The MCSA Certification is appropriate for Network Administrators, Network Engineers, Systems Administrators, IT Professionals, IS Administrators, Network Technicians, and Technical Support Specialists.
An MCSA on Windows XP candidate should have six to 12 months of experience implementing and administering a desktop operating system, implementing and administering a network operating system, and managing an existing network infrastructure. Or completion of one of the following courses (Network+ or A+).

A Network Systems and Security Professional candidate should have six to 12 months of experience implementing and administering a desktop operating system, implementing and administering a network operating system, and managing an existing network infrastructure.

The New Horizons, Microsoft Server Systems Administrator Program, is a comprehensive technology program incorporating personal computer hardware, software, network security protocols and Microsoft’s server networking technology. This curriculum will teach a student how to troubleshoot, repair and install personal computer hardware and software in a network environment. It will also show an individual how to install and manage operating systems and work with clients in a Microsoft Windows environment. Additionally students will learn how to design, install and implement a Microsoft local area network based on the Windows server network. This training also includes upgrading from older Microsoft network platforms and Windows versions. The courses are arranged in an order of knowledge progression. Each course is a prerequisite for the subsequent classes that follow.
