New Horizons Computer Learning Center of Charlotte Helps Train, Certify, and Place Two Military Veterans With the Worldwide Leader in Networking, Cisco
Charlotte, North Carolina (September 20, 2012): Spencer Ryder and Zach Marion, two military veterans of the Charlotte, NC area attended New Horizons CLC of Charlotte to obtain their Cisco Certified Network Associate/Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNA/CCNP) certifications. They were able to use their GI Bill funding to pay for their tuition with New Horizons. In less than 8 months, both veterans were able to complete the courses necessary to obtain their CCNA/CCNP certification and were hired by Cisco Systems.
“After being unemployed since 2010, the training and support I received at New Horizons not only provided me an amazing opportunity at Cisco Systems, but the confidence and competitive edge to pursue it” said Zach Marion.
As a single parent juggling a challenging schedule and limited finances, New Horizons CLC was able to accommodate his needs, with specific classes, flexible schedules, and GI Bill funding; while still ensuring he had the time he needed for his son. Zach started his program at New Horizons 1/30/2012 and was hired to work for one of the most successful companies in the world, Cisco Systems, on 8/27/2012.
While still in the US Navy, Spencer Ryder obtained 6 years of experience as a linguist and as an ethical hacker, but lacked the certifications needed to be hired outside of the military. His close military friend, Zach Marion, told him about New Horizons CLC, the opportunities they had to offer, and the GI Bill funding. When he got out of the Navy, he started his program on 3/7/2012 at New Horizons, hoping to start down a path into a new career field.
“Before I stepped into New Horizons, I had no direction. With the help and assistance from the staff and the knowledge from the school, they helped set me up with a career of a lifetime. I didn’t just get a job, I got a career” said Spencer Ryder.
He was hired as a Network Consulting Engineer on the Advanced Services team for Cisco Systems on 8/27/2012.
“We are honored to see Spencer and Zach receive such a great opportunity. As a learning solutions provider for many of the industry's top vendors, such as Microsoft, Cisco, ITIL, Citrix and VMware, we strive to offer the latest authorized curriculum and assist our students with placements in a position that fits their skills.” said Bill Caswell, General Manager of New Horizons Charlotte.
